Rink Enhancement Project

The Beaches Community Centre is progressing through a long range plan for the future development of the BCC facility. Part of this plan is to pave the surface of the outdoor hockey rink.

In recent years it has become evident that the current sand base for the rink not only requires a tremendous amount of water and manpower to make the ice but also shortens the period of time that it is useable.

Currently the rink is unusable in the summer time and this next phase in the plan once completed, will see to the addition of 4 pickleball courts as well as a full-scale basketball court on the paved surface. This also provides a surface for ball hockey, roller blading and skate boarding.

The BCC has applied for several grants to raise funds for the project with the goal of having it completed in the summer of 2022.

Several cost estimates have been received and preliminary estimates place the cost of the project in the range of $150,000 - $200,000.

Fundraising has been a challenge for the BCC since the onslaught of the pandemic and so in addition to applying for government grants, we will be looking to our generous corporate and individual community members to help bring this project to fruition

Every donation will be tax deductible and donations from businesses, families and individuals will be acknowledged on the BCC's Facebook page.

Once the projects proceeds, a sponsor board acknowledging supporters will be erected.
